Samsung has confirmed that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on July 22 in London — a break from its usual Seoul or US venues.
The headline story is a foldable line-up split into three devices for the first time.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8, meanwhile, is expected to be a far more modest update.
Notably absent from the leaks is a Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, with reports suggesting the rotating-bezel model is not returning this year.
Samsung recently unveiled “Flex Titanium,” a new foldable display structure combining two titanium components designed to reduce crease visibility, with a fuller reveal expected at Unpacked.
Samsung has confirmed that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on July 22 in London — a break from its usual Seoul or US venues. The teaser, titled ‘A New Shape Unfolds,’ shows an event ticket that transforms into a box revealing the four-star Galaxy AI logo, with the ticket’s shape hinting at a shorter, wider redesign for the Z Fold series.
The headline story is a foldable line-up split into three devices for the first time. Leaks describe Samsung dividing its book-style foldable into two separate phones: a wider, more square Galaxy Z Fold8 aimed at the same landscape-first format Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone is expected to adopt, and a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra that retains the tall, narrow shape familiar from the Fold 7. A Bluetooth SIG database listing tied to the model number SM-F976 has reportedly reinforced this naming split.
The Ultra is tipped to be the more heavily specified of the two, carrying a 5,000mAh battery (up from the Fold 7’s 4,400mAh), 45W wired and 15W wireless charging, up to 16GB of RAM, storage up to 1TB, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip also expected in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
On cameras, the 200MP main sensor and telephoto lens are expected to carry over largely unchanged, while the ultra-wide camera is rumoured to jump from 12MP to 50MP. There is also talk of the S Pen making a comeback on the Ultra, though this remains unconfirmed.
Pricing looks set to climb. Leaks suggest the standard Fold 8 could start around $1,899, with the Fold 8 Ultra closer to roughly $2,099 in the US, partly attributed to the ongoing memory-chip shortage affecting the wider industry.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8, meanwhile, is expected to be a far more modest update. Leaks point to a reworked hinge with a less visible crease, a slightly lighter and taller body, and broadly similar cameras and battery to the Flip 7, with faster charging as the main upgrade. There is also chatter that Samsung may switch to its own Exynos chip rather than a Qualcomm Snapdragon for the Flip, which would mark a departure from recent generations.
On wearables, Samsung has already begun teasing what is widely expected to be the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2, describing the new lineup as an AI-powered health companion offering real-time insights, improved tracking accuracy and longer battery life, with features such as sleep apnoea tracking and a personalised health coach highlighted in teaser clips.
Leaked specifications suggest a 438x438-pixel display on the 40mm Watch 9 and 480x480-pixel panels on the 44mm Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2, alongside a bigger 445mAh battery on the 44mm Watch 9 and a substantial jump to roughly 800mAh on the Ultra 2. Notably absent from the leaks is a Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, with reports suggesting the rotating-bezel model is not returning this year.
The wild card is Samsung’s rumoured smart glasses. Reports suggest the company may unveil or at least preview its first Galaxy Glasses — lightweight, conventional-looking eyewear built on Android XR with Google’s Gemini AI, relying on cameras, microphones and speakers rather than a display-heavy augmented reality format.
Samsung recently unveiled “Flex Titanium,” a new foldable display structure combining two titanium components designed to reduce crease visibility, with a fuller reveal expected at Unpacked. Will we get to see this in the foldable phone?
