Welcome To The Jungle collected Rs. 1.85 crore on its second Wednesday, registering a 25 per cent drop from the previous Monday. The comedy drama, directed by Ahmed Khan, took its second week's cume to Rs. 27.25 crore in 6 days. Allied to its first week of Rs. 92.50 crore, the running cume of Welcome To The Jungle reached Rs. 119.75 crore nett.
The movie will close this week around Rs 28.50 crore or so, which will be around a 70 per cent drop from the first week. The Akshay Kumar starrer will face Dhamaal 4 in its third weekend. How well it holds against the Ajay Devgn film will determine how far the film can go at the box office. Based on current trends, the movie has the potential to hit over Rs. 150 crore nett mark in its full run.
The film is certainly a success, but HIT will be cutting close now. Fortunately, the costs involved are very reasonable despite being a film from a big brand, i.e., Welcome. Had the film cost as much as Housefull 5, it would have been tough for it. Looking from other pov, while the low costs have made the film a success, the grosses are a bit of a disappointment for the brand value of Welcome.
The original Welcome was amongst the biggest grossers of all time, while the second one, despite not having Akshay Kumar in the lead, managed to open strongly and put up good final numbers. In that context, this one is a bit underwhelming.
