All India Congress Volunteers Committee (AICVC) put out a detailed list on the number of posts by senior and high-profile Congress leaders

There is a little-known organisation, the All India Congress Volunteers Committee (AICVC), which has created ripples in the Congress’ corridor of power.

In a series of posts, Congress supporters and those who are a part of this group questioned as to why the top leaders of the party had not posted about Rahul Gandhi’s Pune ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ on X or Instagram.

A detailed on the number of posts by senior and high-profile Congress leaders was also put out. Some namely Shashi Tharoor, Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar showed up in the negative.

This organisation is believed to be close to Rahul Gandhi’s office and a voluntary watchdog.

In fact, just recently in the last CWC, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had complained that most Congress leaders don’t show solidarity on many causes. For example, he said on the Haldwani “shuddhikaran" issue, not many in the Congress had been bothered to make this an issue or taken up the cause.

Rahul Gandhi is himself believed to have been upset and asked his people to monitor the social media posts of party leaders. In fact, Gandhi in the past has complained that he has often failed to get support from his party colleagues.

Like in 2024, when the Congress held the CWC meeting, Gandhi, while resigning as party president, said that most party leaders, especially the elders, had not supported his campaign of ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’.

In fact, sources say that there are a handful of leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, Ashok Gehlot, Manickam Tagore, Srinivas, Renuka Choudhary who routinely and regularly repost or push party’s big campaigns and Gandhi’s campaigns as well.

Given the fact that most political parties have decided to go aggressive on social media to woo the Gen Z, the Congress certainly does not want any slip-up or take any chance.

And to gather more hits, and few misses, the Congress wants its social media team to be up and about and also ensure that party’s top leaders fall in line. AICVC is just a weapon to crack the whip.
