Maruti Grand Vitara Vs Victoris – Pricing
The Grand Vitara is priced between Rs 12.68 and 23.09 lakh. The Victoris is priced similarly in the Rs 12.51-23.66 lakh range (on-road, Mumbai). The lower variants of the Victoris are priced lower, while the top-end variants are more expensive than the Grand Vitara. It is also important to note that the hybrid range for the Victoris range starts at Rs 19.42 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), which is around Rs 8,000 less than the Grand Vitara. This makes the Victoris the cheapest HEV in the country.
It is also worth noting that both cars are available with decent discounts. The Grand Vitara gets benefits up to Rs 95,000 while the Victoris is offered with discounts up to Rs 90,000.

Practicality
Despite sharing platforms, the Victoris boasts larger dimensions. It is 15mm longer and 10mm taller than the Grand Vitara. But due to the similiar wheelbase length, the interior space is identical.

This difference in length is only visible in the boot space, as the Victoris boasts a 439-litre boot compared to the Grand Vitara’s 373 litres. The difference in boot space is particularly evident in the CNG trims, as the Victoris flaunts an underbody CNG layout, allowing for more room at the back. The Grand Vitara gets a conventional single-cylinder CNG tank, which eats up into the already modest boot. For the hybrid trims, the boot space is heavily compromised, and both get an equally small boot (exact specifications of the Victoris hybrid are yet to be revealed.
Maruti Grand Vitara Vs Victoris – Features
Both cars are offered with features such as a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, electrically adjustable ORVMs, automatic climate control, head-up display, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, etc. The difference in features is only noticeable on higher variants.
The Victoris gets a larger 10.1-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display. In comparison, the Grand Vitara gets a smaller 9-inch unit and a 7-inch TFT MID. On top of this, the Victoris also gets an electric tailgate and, importantly, Level-2 ADAS. There are a couple of differences in the sound system as well. The Victoris gets an 8-speaker Infinity sound system alongside Dolby Atmos. On the other hand, the Grand Vitara is offered with a 6-speaker Clarion unit. These differences in features are a key reason the top-end Victoris is priced higher than the Grand Vitara.

Powertrain
Both cars are offered with 2 engine options – a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol and a 1.5-litre strong-hybrid petrol. The power outputs, mileage figures and battery size are identical for both cars. The similarities extend to the gearbox options, as both are offered with a 5-speed MT, a 6-speed AT, and an e-CVT (for hybrid).
As far as powertrains are concerned, the only difference lies within the CNG variant. The Victoris gets Maruti’s new underbody CNG, while the Grand Vitara is stuck with the conventional single-cylinder layout.
Maruti Grand Vitara Vs Victoris – Verdict
In the end, the Grand Vitara seems outdated compared to the Victoris. It lags behind in features, underbody CNG, practicality and even pricing. The looks (which are subjective) and Nexa experience are the only redeeming factors for the Grand Vitara. Maruti has been offering equally enticing discounts for both these cars, leaving little chance for the Grand Vitara to win. On paper, the Victoris wins the battle, but the Grand Vitara isn’t that big of a compromise either.
