Former long jumper and AFI vice-president Anju Bobby George described India's day as a mixed one, admitting the team had expected more gold medals.
“Frankly speaking, we are not entirely happy because we were expecting a few more gold medals,” George said.
She praised Kartik Kumar's silver in the 10,000m, where he set another national record, and Tajinderpal Singh Toor's silver in the shot put despite the wet conditions.
“Performing near his best under rainy conditions to secure silver in his third Asian Games appearance is remarkable,” George said of Toor.
On the weather, George said: “It’s an outdoor event, so weather plays a big part.” However, she noted that five Asian Games records were broken despite the rain.

George also revealed that Praveen Chithravel suffered a hamstring injury during his runway attempt, while Jyothi Yarraji withdrew after feeling sharp discomfort during her warm-up.
“Losing those two sure-shot medals made it a tough day for us,” she said.
