6,000 techies laid off worldwide in first week of September: Reports

Over 6,300 tech roles have reportedly been cut worldwide in the first week of September 2026, NDTV Profit reported. According to reports, firms including Uber, PayPal, Zomato, Apple, and Oracle are among those cutting jobs. Uber is reportedly eliminating about 3,300 positions, while PayPal will cut about 220 employees across its India hubs.
