Chandigarh, 08.09.26- The Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh , in association with the PGI Physiotherapist Association (PPA), organised a series of academic and professional activities to commemorate World Physiotherapy Day 2026.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Vijay GGoni, Head, Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and Prof. Dheeraj khurana.
The sessions covered various aspects of stroke management and rehabilitation and were conducted by experts including Prof. Dheeraj Khurana, Dr. Sushant Sahoo, Dr. Raghunath Sahoo (PT), Dr. Jaya Talwar (PT), Dr. Bhushan Chandra Paul (PT), Dr. Shivpriya (PT), Dr. NeetikaKatiyar (PT) and Dr. Salman Ahmed (PT).
The celebrations culminated on 8th September 2026 , WorldPhysiotherapy Day, with an academic interaction session comprising a student quiz and poster presentations.
The activities provided an engaging platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge and creativity and encouraged academic interaction among students and physiotherapy professionals.

The celebrations were centred on the theme, “ Stroke: From Survival to Recovery – Role of Physiotherapy Across the Continuum of Care.”
The programme began with academic sessions on 4th and 5th September 2026 at the Auditorium, Advanced Eye Centre, PGIMER.

A hands-on Kinesiotaping Workshop, with the theme “ Learn • Apply • Empower,” was conducted on 6th September by Dr. Upendra Goswami (PT), Superintendent Physiotherapist, PGIMER, Chandigarh, providing participants an opportunity for practical learning.
