After taking a look at the sub 4m SUV sales and 4.4m SUV sales segment, let us now take a look at the 4.5m to 4.8m SUV segment.
4.5m to 4.8m SUV Sales June 2026 – Mahindra captures over 77% market shareMahindra Scorpio / Scorpio N retained its leadership with 14,097 units, up 10.65% YoY from 12,740 units.
Combined, Scorpio, XUV7XO and XEV 9S alone contributed more than 72% of total segment sales.
Tata Harrier / Harrier EV delivered one of the strongest performances in the segment.
Scorpio / Scorpio N retained a comfortable lead with 44,590 units, up 4.49%, followed by XUV7XO at 27,212 units, registering a strong 38.27% increase.
After taking a look at the sub 4m SUV sales and 4.4m SUV sales segment, let us now take a look at the 4.5m to 4.8m SUV segment. In June 2026, this segment sales stood at 37,763 units in June 2026, registering a healthy 29.29% YoY growth over 29,209 units sold in June 2025. However, on a month-on-month basis, the segment declined 4.87% from 39,698 units recorded in May 2026.
4.5m to 4.8m SUV Sales June 2026 – Mahindra captures over 77% market share
Mahindra Scorpio / Scorpio N retained its leadership with 14,097 units, up 10.65% YoY from 12,740 units. The SUV commanded a 37.33% market share, although sales were down 10.63% MoM from May’s 15,774 units. Mahindra XUV7XO was the second best-selling model with 9,244 units, posting a strong 43.65% YoY growth. Its market share improved to 24.48%, while monthly sales remained largely stable with just a 1.01% MoM decline.
Mahindra’s electric XEV 9S secured third place with 4,018 units, accounting for 10.64% of the segment. Combined, Scorpio, XUV7XO and XEV 9S alone contributed more than 72% of total segment sales. Tata Harrier / Harrier EV delivered one of the strongest performances in the segment. Sales more than doubled to 2,962 units, up 135.27% YoY, helped by the addition of the Harrier EV. On a monthly basis, Harrier range also improved 5.22%.
Toyota Fortuner remained fifth with 2,514 units, witnessing an 8.35% YoY decline and a 13.46% MoM drop. Mahindra XEV 9e reported 2,006 units, down 28.56% YoY, although it recorded a modest 3.46% month-on-month improvement. Tata Safari also posted healthy gains, rising 37.85% YoY to 1,271 units, while MG Hector / Hector Plus registered 950 units, up 25.50% over last year.
Hyundai Alcazar had a difficult month, with sales dropping to 304 units, down 74.11% YoY and 62.65% MoM, giving it a market share of just 0.81%. The reason for this huge decline was a fire at one of the Hyundai India supplier. Production is back on track this month.
Jeep Compass sold 117 units, while Skoda Kodiaq registered 106 units. Jeep Meridian followed with 84 units. Volkswagen Tiguan recorded 47 units, posting a high 840% YoY growth due to a low base of just five units last year. Newly launched Volkswagen Tayron added 43 units in its first full month on sale. Citroen C5 Aircross reported no sales during the month, once again.
Q2 2026 – Segment grows nearly 24%
For the April-June 2026 period, cumulative sales reached 1,14,515 units, compared to 92,448 units in Q2 2025, translating into 23.87% YoY growth. Scorpio / Scorpio N retained a comfortable lead with 44,590 units, up 4.49%, followed by XUV7XO at 27,212 units, registering a strong 38.27% increase. Mahindra XEV 9S contributed 10,762 units during the quarter.
Harrier / Harrier EV emerged as one of the biggest gainers, surging 162.94% YoY to 8,322 units, while Toyota Fortuner declined 6.64% to 7,672 units. Mahindra XEV 9e recorded 5,556 units, down 31.10%. Tata Safari improved 12.58% to 3,795 units, while MG Hector / Hector Plus rose 18.26% to 3,349 units. Hyundai Alcazar continued to struggle during the quarter, falling 36.78% to 1,968 units.
Among lower-volume models, Skoda Kodiaq declined 17.30%, Jeep Compass fell 10.53%, Jeep Meridian dropped 20.44%, while Volkswagen Tiguan grew 17.12% to 130 units. Volkswagen Tayron contributed 181 units during the quarter, whereas Citroen C5 Aircross recorded no sales after selling 56 units in the corresponding period last year.
