Which Android Phone Is Equivalent To The iPhone 18 Pro Max?

Demand for the latest iPhone 18 isn't that hot, likely because the iPhone 17 Pro Max is still a powerhouse despite its September 2025 release. Nonetheless, the latest iPhone 18 Pro Max will offer a slight spec boost, thanks to the newer, more efficient Apple A20 Pro chipset. Is there an Android phone equivalent to the iPhone 18 Pro Max for those that aren't keen on joining the Apple ecosystem? In terms of chipsets, the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a hexa-core processor while the S26 Ultra packs in an octa-core CPU. The top-of-the-line Galaxy model may dwarf the new iPhone Pro in megapixels (200 on the main sensor, to be exact), but the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a physical variable-aperture camera that opens and closes.

Nonetheless, the latest iPhone 18 Pro Max will offer a slight spec boost, thanks to the newer, more efficient Apple A20 Pro chipset. Improved battery life is also a huge plus, while photographers are likely looking forward to the variable aperture update coming to the new iPhone's camera system. Not surprisingly, the well-reviewed Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra occupies the same space and is pretty close spec-wise. The physical size difference is negligible (Samsung is slightly bigger), and both phones come with 12 GB of RAM. The key difference is that Samsung offers a 16 GB RAM version. Apple bridges this gap by offering a 2 TB storage option, which is 1 TB more than Samsung. In terms of chipsets, the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a hexa-core processor while the S26 Ultra packs in an octa-core CPU. On paper, Samsung's octa-core 2x4.74 GHz Oryon V3 Phoenix L, boosted by a 6x3.62 GHz Oryon V3, should deliver better multi-core performance, while the iPhone should theoretically be better at single-core processing.

Perhaps the biggest difference between the two is in the camera department. The top-of-the-line Galaxy model may dwarf the new iPhone Pro in megapixels (200 on the main sensor, to be exact), but the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a physical variable-aperture camera that opens and closes. That could be a selling point for photography enthusiasts.
