The Russo Brothers have shared a full look at a major Doctor Doom symbol ahead of SXSW London, with fans suggesting the official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday could be unveiled. On Instagram, Anthony and Joe Russo shared the flag of the fictional Eastern European country of Latveria, which, in the Marvel Comics, is ruled by Doctor Doom.
Before Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom's rule, the region was governed by Barons, and von Doom returned to his roots in a Romani tribe in the country to avenge his family. He overthrew the reigning Baron and seized total control of Latveria. Due to his influence, the country saw incredible modernization and was under guard by Doom's robotic army called the "Servo-Guards."
It's unclear about the significance of the flag being shown ahead of SXSW London, but due to the trailer being shown at CinemaCon to the attendees, but kept hidden from the world, it has left everyone wondering when fans can catch a full glimpse of the action to come in the highly anticipated movie. The trailer is likely to drop around the event or, quite possibly, alongside another MCU addition, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is to be released on July 31.
Robert Downey Jr. is returning for the new movie despite having portrayed Iron Man/Tony Stark in the original Avengers team, who ended up sacrificing himself to save the world. However, Downey Jr. has yet to be seen officially in the role of Victor von Doom, and the significance of casting the actor for this role has yet to be revealed.
The Russo Brothers will be attending two panels during SXSW London on June 2 as well as a screening of Avengers: Infinity War. Endgame will be returning to theaters on September 25 leading up to the release of Doomsday, but will feature new footage to link both films tied directly to the narrative that will be shown in the new MCU movie.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18.
