Sub 4m SUV Sales July 2026 – Punch, Fronx, Nexon, Brezza, Venue, XUV3XO, Sonet, Exter, Kylaq

Overall, Tata and Maruti together accounted for nearly 61% of all sub-4m SUV sales in July 2026.

Tata Punch continues to dominate India’s hottest SUV segment, while Maruti Fronx records one of the biggest monthly gains

India’s sub-4 metre SUV segment remained one of the strongest-performing passenger vehicle categories in July 2026. Total sales stood at 1,16,552 units, registering 34.67% YoY growth over 86,544 units sold in July 2025. Compared to June 2026, sales also improved by 5.80%, with an additional 6,391 units sold.

Sub 4m SUV Sales July 2026

Tata Punch continued to lead the segment with 21,313 units, maintaining its position as India’s best-selling sub-4 metre SUV. Sales were almost double compared to 10,785 units sold a year ago, translating to 97.62% YoY growth. Maruti Fronx emerged as the biggest gainer among the top-selling models. Sales jumped to 19,473 units, recording a massive 48.25% MoM growth from 13,135 units in June.

Tata Nexon ranked third with 17,471 units. While sales were up 36.23% YoY, the SUV registered a 4.71% decline compared to June. Recently updated Maruti Brezza climbed back to fourth position with 12,055 units, aided by a healthy 21.29% MoM growth. However, volumes remained lower than the 14,065 units sold in July last year, resulting in a 14.29% YoY decline.

Hyundai Venue rounded off the top five with 11,095 units, posting 37.76% YoY growth while recording a modest 2.96% increase over June. Mahindra XUV 3XO slipped to sixth with 9,429 units. Sales were up 30.27% YoY, although they declined 6.30% compared to June. Kia Sonet followed closely with 8,913 units, registering 16.86% YoY growth, but also ending the month with a 3.44% MoM decline.

Hyundai Exter reported 6,810 units, a healthy 34.19% increase over last year but a notable 16.48% decline from June. Skoda Kylaq 3,727 units, up 10.36% YoY, although sales dipped 7.72% MoM. Toyota Taisor managed 2,470 units, improving 46.41% YoY despite remaining largely flat month-on-month.

Nissan Magnite posted 1,462 units, ahead of Kia Syros at 1,303 units. While Magnite recorded only 2.96% YoY growth, Syros continued to build momentum with 56.24% YoY and 64.94% MoM growth, thanks to the recent launch of Syros EV. Maruti Jimny sold 528 units, registering 45.86% YoY growth, while Renault Kiger remained at the bottom of the chart with 503 units despite recording 55.73% YoY growth on a low base.

OEM Wise Sub 4m SUV Sales July 2026

OEM-wise, Tata Motors continued to dominate the segment with a combined 38,784 units from Punch and Nexon, registering a healthy 64.27% YoY growth. Maruti Suzuki retained second place with 32,056 units from Fronx, Brezza and Jimny, though its growth was a relatively modest 17.43% as Brezza continued to witness lower volumes despite Fronx’s strong performance. Hyundai was the third-largest player with 17,905 units, up 36.38% YoY, aided by the recovery of Venue and steady demand for Exter.

Kia recorded 10,216 units from Sonet and Syros, growing 20.74% YoY, while Mahindra retailed 9,429 units of XUV 3XO, up 30.27%. Among the smaller OEMs, Toyota (+46.41%) and Renault (+55.73%) posted strong percentage gains on a lower base, whereas Skoda Kylaq continued to build volumes steadily with 3,727 units. Overall, Tata and Maruti together accounted for nearly 61% of all sub-4m SUV sales in July 2026.
