JSW Jaecoo J5 Spotted Testing:

JSW Jaecoo J5 has been spotted yet again, flaunting its Range Roverish looks on Indian roads. The spied SUV is expected to be the Hybrid version, given the visible vertical slats on the grille, as the EV version has a closed-off grille. One thing the pictures won’t do justice to is the model’s powerful pull, as it ramped up quickly while we were shooting.

The spotted images show the SUV fully covered in camouflage, but based on its overall design, including the headlamps, taillights, grille, and rear spoiler, we can say that the India-spec Jaecoo J5 will have a similar design to the Jaecoo J5 sold in the international market.

What Else?

The Jaecoo J5 will be JSW’s entry product in the mid-size SUV segment. That said, it will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, and others. Interestingly, this SUV will also boast a hybrid setup, like the Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara, as well as the Toyota Hyryder, to offer good mileage.

In the international markets, the Jaecoo J5 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine paired with a 1.83kWh motor, producing 224 bhp and 295 Nm (combined). It is also expected to come with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, producing 145 bhp & 210 Nm. There’s also an electric version of this SUV available in international markets. It is packed with a 58.9kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of 400km, and is also expected to come to India.

In terms of features, expect the India-spec Jaecoo J5 to carry over those from its internationally sold version. Expect the model to offer features such as a 13.2-inch infotainment unit, an 8.8-inch instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-speaker Sony sound system, dual-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, a powered tailgate, and more.

Safety-wise, expect the SUV to offer 7 airbags, a 540-degree camera, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and a comprehensive ADAS suite.
