The homegrown utility vehicle maker, Mahindra is preparing two all-new sub-4 metre SUVs, which are scheduled to be launched in 2027 and 2028. The company is all set to disrupt the segment with a rugged-boxy SUV, which will be based on the Vision S Concept. The new model is currently undergoing rigorous testing, revealing key details about its design and interiors.

Exterior Design
The latest spy shots reveal that the production-version looks largely identical to the original concept. It has a squarish, upright silhouette designed to give a rugged ladder-frame chassis based SUV look despite being built on a modern modular platform.
At the back, the SUV features slim, vertical LED tail lamp clusters mounted alongside the rear windscreen. The tail-lamp structure looks identical to the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio-N. The tailgate carries a full-sized spare wheel, paired with a side-hinged rear door. It will have flared, squared-off wheel arches, flush-type door handles, upright pillars, and large 16-inch alloy wheels.
Interior and Features
The Vision S Concept based SUV will debut the brand's new interior design theme. In fact, the production-spec cabin layout, housing modern displays and physical controls, have already been revealed in spy images. The SUV gets two separated screens for infotainment and instrument console, likely 10.25-inch units).

It comes with physical climate control dials and aircraft-style toggle switches. The SUV will get an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, wireless smartphone charging pad, drive mode selector, a multi-function leatherette steering wheel and a panoramic sunroof. The SUV is also expected to get powered and ventilated front seats, LEVEL 2 ADAS suite, 6 airbags, ESC, Hill-Start Assist and others.
Powertrains
The upcoming mini Scorpio is expected to be offered with a 1.2L mStallion petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine. The NU_IQ platform is compatible with ICE, hybrid and electric powertrains. Mahindra is reportedly preparing a hybrid powertrain using the 1.2L turbo petrol engine, and the same could be offered with the Vision S based SUV in future. A pure electric derivative is also expected to join the lineup at a later date.
Positioning & Market Launch
It will be positioned as a more rugged, lifestyle alternative sitting alongside the Mahindra XUV 3XO. The production-spec Vision S will rival the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue and the upcoming Renault Bridger. The mini Scorpio is expected to be launched in early 2027, most probably at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo.
