Sensex Today, Nifty 50 | Stock Market Highlights, 1st October 2026: The BSE Sensex settled 570.59 points, or 0.79%, lower at 71,909.70 on Thursday, after hitting an intraday low of 71,292.88.
Over the week, the Sensex declined 2.6%, while the Nifty fell more than 3%.
As many as 78 stocks hit their 52-week highs, while 291 touched 52-week lows.
A total of 95 stocks hit the upper circuit and 199 hit the lower circuit.
The FMCG index and Nifty Metal fell 2.35 per cent each, while Nifty Consumer Durables declined 1.91 per cent and Nifty Oil & Gas dropped 1.32 per cent.

Over the week, the Sensex declined 2.6%, while the Nifty fell more than 3%. Markets will remain closed on Friday, October 2, on account of Gandhi Jayanti.
Of the 3,707 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,023 advanced, 2,574 declined and 110 remained unchanged. As many as 78 stocks hit their 52-week highs, while 291 touched 52-week lows. A total of 95 stocks hit the upper circuit and 199 hit the lower circuit.
The Nifty Auto index led the losers, falling 3.46 per cent to close at 25,384. The FMCG index and Nifty Metal fell 2.35 per cent each, while Nifty Consumer Durables declined 1.91 per cent and Nifty Oil & Gas dropped 1.32 per cent.
The Nifty IT index was the lone gainer, rising 2.17 per cent to close at 28,304.
The Indian rupee dropped to its weakest level in two months as global bond yields surged to decadal highs and oil prices jumped, deepening pressure on the South Asian currency, which was already hurt by foreign portfolio outflows on Thursday.
The rupee ended 0.5% lower at 96.3150 per dollar, its sharpest single-day fall in more than two months, after breaching the key psychological barrier of 96, even as dollar sales by state-run banks limited its fall.
