Despite being led by two different captains this season - Ishan Kishan and Pat Cummins - Sunrisers Hyderabad have maintained a top level performance throughout the campaign to seal a 3rd place finish with 9 wins and 5 losses.

They had a rough start to the campaign winning only once in their opening four games. But in the following 10 games, the Orange Army won 8 matches and suffered only two defeats that paved their way into this eliminator clash.

They ended the league phase on a high note, beating Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 55 runs in their last league phase match. SRH scored 255 runs thanks to half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich. Later, they restricted RCB for 200 runs with Eshan Malinga taking 2 wickets.

For SRH to progress further into the competition, they would once again rely on their destructive batting line-up. SRH’s batting prowess is highlighted by the fact that three different batters for them crossed the 500 runs mark. Heinrich Klaasen is the top run scorer with 606 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 159.47 and average of 50.50. He has played some spectacular knocks this season but 65 off 30 balls vs MI would be one of the most standout ones.

Top-order batters Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma are the other two batters who have scored more than 500 runs. Ishan has scored 569 runs while Abhishek has smashed 563 runs.

Abhishek has maintained his previous two seasons performance level this season as well, scoring 563 runs at a strike rate of 206.23. His performance of 135* off 68 balls vs Delhi Capitals is one of the best individual performances in the competition's history. His opening partner Travis Head has scored 393 runs at a strike rate of 168.67, maintaining their position as one of the most lethal opening pairs in IPL currently.

Ishan Kishan was the stand-in captain for the team in the first half of the tournament and delivered brilliantly with the bat. The Bihar born batter has scored 569 runs at a strike rate of 178.37 including his highest score of 91 vs RR and 79 runs vs RCB in the last game.

With the ball, Sri Lankan medium pacer Eshan Malinga is the top wicket-taker with 19 wickets for the Orange Army. He has taken wickets consistently this season, going wicketless only in four games while his best figure is 4/32 vs DC.

The introduction of the duo Sakib Hussain and Praful Hinge has worked well. SRH initially struggled to take wickets in the opening few games, but both Hinge and Sakib made a mark on their debut game itself, taking 4 wickets vs Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan Royals Preview

Rajasthan Royals had to dig deep and win their last league phase match against Mumbai Indians to book their place in this eliminator clash. The Royals had an up and down season but eventually finished with 8 wins and 6 losses for the Riyan Parag led side.

Rajasthan Royals had a pretty mixed form in the tournament this season and couldn't manage a strong run. In-fact, the most successful winning run for RR this season was a 4 game winning streak, which happens to be their opening four games of the season.

After losing three games on the bounce towards the back end of the season, RR needed to win their last two games to qualify and they just did that with wins against LSG and MI.

Young superstar batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has shown to the world he ain't a one season wonder and carried on his brilliant display, taking on the bowlers with fearless approach. He has scored 583 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 232.27. He scored three half-centuries and a brilliant knock of 103 off 37 balls vs SRH.

His opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored 397 runs at a strike rate of 159.44. These two batters have performed really well for Rajasthan Royals and have been the main reasons behind RR’s strong performances this season.

Other than the two, wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel has made the most of the opportunity given to him with a promotion to 3rd in the batting order.
