"Dear @RahulGandhi, before repairing democracy, could you start by repairing Himachal Pradesh? I returned after 9 years & was shocked by garbage-strewn hills and choking rivers. Make this Congress-governed state a model of governance. Earn the people’s mandate, don’t just demand it (folded hands emoji)," she wrote.

What did Rahul Gandhi say about repairing democracy?

Sona's post was a response to Rahul Gandhi's remarks that the departure of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Modi government would pave the way for the repair of democracy.

In a post in Hindi on X, the Congress leader wrote, “Gyanesh Kumar will go. This government will go. Then the repair of democracy will begin.”

He also shared a video of his address to INDIA bloc MPs in the Central Hall of Parliament.

Social media users react to Sona Mohapatra's post

One user wrote that Rahul Gandhi had several opportunities to establish Congress-ruled states as examples of good governance. The user said, "Rahul Gandhi has so many opportunities to prove he’s the better alternative. Make HP, Karnataka, Telangana, Keralam as model states and prove that he deserves to get the public’s votes. Even better if he becomes CM of one of these states to showcase his prowess."

Another user criticised the Congress leader's approach to governance, writing, "No @sonamohapatra, Mr @RahulGandhi has zero interest in making any Congress governed state a MODEL state, same corruption, same poor education & health, same people's misery. He only wants to ride the wave create."

A third user questioned Rahul Gandhi's accountability towards Congress-ruled states and wrote, "Don't ask for Accountability for his State Governments. He don't like to be questioned about his Governance style as he never held a position of administrative responsibility. Never shown any Governance vision despite have Governments in multiple states in past 12 years."
