Renault India has launched the new Duster Adventure Edition at a starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Introduced as a special edition, it celebrates the adventure-focused image that made Duster one of India’s most popular SUVs over the years. The special edition was unveiled on Bastille Day by Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to India, along with Stephane Deblaise, CEO of Renault Group India.
Cosmetic Updates Inspired By Duster’s Legacy
Unlike a new variant with mechanical changes, the Adventure Edition focuses on visual enhancements. The biggest highlight is the exclusive Adventure graphics featuring topographical contour lines along with the geographical coordinates of Leh (34.27 N, 77.60 E), paying tribute to the high-altitude terrain where Duster earned its reputation as a capable SUV. Other additions include Adventure-themed embellishers and exclusive Adventure floor mats. The rest of the SUV remains unchanged, retaining the rugged styling of the new-generation Duster.
The Adventure Edition continues to offer the same equipment list as the corresponding variants. Key features include full-LED headlamps, an electric panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, connected car technology via the My Renault app, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10.1-inch openR Link touchscreen infotainment system and 17-inch Ocean alloy wheels.
Available With Three Turbo Petrol Options
Renault is offering the Adventure Edition with all three turbo-petrol powertrain choices available in the standard Duster lineup. Buyers can choose between the Turbo TCe 100 manual, Turbo TCe 160 manual and Turbo TCe 160 DCT automatic.
Speaking about the launch, Stephane Deblaise, CEO, Renault Group India, said the Duster has become much more than just an SUV over the years, with the Adventure Edition celebrating the connection customers have built with the nameplate through memorable road trips and experiences. With prices starting at Rs 12.99 lakh, the Duster Adventure Edition offers buyers a more distinctive version of Renault’s iconic SUV without any changes to its mechanical package.
Duster Yet To Match Expectations
While the original Duster helped create the midsize SUV segment in India, the new-generation model has had a much slower start. Based on industry sales data, Duster has consistently remained at the bottom of the segment despite competing against established rivals such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Victoris and Tata Sierra.
In the first half of 2026, Duster recorded cumulative sales of 6,039 units, averaging 1,007 units per month. By comparison, Hyundai Creta averaged over 15,200 units a month during the same period, while MG Victoris, Kia Seltos and Toyota Hyryder all averaged well above 9,000 units monthly.
June 2026 was Duster’s weakest month so far, with sales dropping to 1,011 units, down from 2,359 units in April and 1,402 units in March. Renault will hope the new Adventure Edition helps generate fresh interest, although the update is limited to cosmetic additions and does not bring any mechanical or feature upgrades over the standard model.
Interestingly, Duster isn’t the only recently launched SUV facing this challenge. Tata Motors recently introduced the Sierra Jubilee Edition, another cosmetic special edition for a model that has also struggled to meet initial sales expectations. With both manufacturers resorting to special editions within months of launch, the focus appears to be on boosting showroom footfalls and keeping their respective SUVs in the spotlight amid intense competition in the midsize SUV segment.
