According to a Chandigarh Police statement issued on Sunday night, "Chandigarh Police apprehended three people in connection with a case involving a suspected IED and firearm.

During the operation, the police took the three suspects, allegedly from Punjab, into custody and filed an FIR, sources added.

According to a Chandigarh Police statement issued on Sunday night, "Chandigarh Police apprehended three people in connection with a case involving a suspected IED and firearm. An FIR has been registered at Police Station, Sector 36.

"A suspected IED and other material have been recovered from the apprehended persons," the statement said.
The police reassured the public, stating there is no cause for panic.
"Chandigarh police are maintaining due vigilance and taking all necessary and preventive measures to ensure public safety," the statement said, adding that further investigation is under way.
Sources said that security arrangements around the site and other key transit points have been heightened, and that investigating agencies are examining the recovered items. With PTI
