As tensions between the United States and Iran escalate once again, Pakistan has launched an intensive diplomatic initiative aimed at preventing a wider regional conflict and safeguarding the recently agreed Islamabad Peace Deal MoU, according to a top security source.
The high-level effort is being led by Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir, who has reportedly initiated a series of crucial hotline conversations and direct engagements with senior U.S. and Iranian officials, as well as top military commanders, in a bid to de-escalate the rapidly evolving situation.
According to the security source, Pakistan has significantly intensified its war-prevention diplomacy, with Islamabad working closely with key regional stakeholders to create space for dialogue and reduce the risk of military confrontation.
The source further revealed that Pakistan has reached out to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar to coordinate diplomatic efforts aimed at preserving the Islamabad MoU and preventing fresh instability across West Asia. Qatar is said to be working in close coordination with Pakistan as both countries continue round-the-clock diplomatic engagements.

US-IRAN WAR ESCALATES
Active hostilities between the United States and Iran have sharply escalated, following a direct Iranian missile and drone attack in Jordan on July 17, 2026, which killed two American service members and left one missing.
The U.S. military responded by launching its eighth consecutive night of airstrikes against Iranian territory, targeting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), coastal surveillance facilities, air defense radars, and drone storage sites. In retaliation for the U.S. bombing campaign, Iran launched large-scale kamikaze drone strikes targeting two U.S. bases in Kuwait—Camp Udairi and Ali Al Salem Air Base—which triggered sirens in Kuwait City.
