Next-Gen Honda Elevate – What To Expect?

Honda has announced it will launch 6 new models by FY2027. 5 of these cars have more or less been confirmed. This list includes the Prelude, Alpha 0 EV, ZR-V, City facelift and a sub-4m SUV. And we expect the 6th model to be the next-gen Honda Elevate. Elevate sales have been quite mediocre, and Honda is expected to give it a much-needed update with the new generation. Rumours had also been swirling around that Honda is working on a mid-sized SUV. Moreover, the Japanese automaker has revealed that it will bring 3 global models to India. All these things suggest that the next-gen Elevate could be based on a global model. And we suspect it to be the HR-V.

The HR-V has dimensions similiar to those of the Elevate. It is a 4.35-m long SUV, making it slightly longer than the Elevate. Interestingly, both cars use the same Honda global small car platform. The HR-V is an elegant-looking SUV. It doesn’t have quirky aesthetic features like split headlights, connected taillights or unnecessarily aggressive cuts and creases, giving it a sophisticated look. Honda is known for its simple design, which many people appreciate.

Powertrain

The HR-V uses the familiar 1.5-litre petrol engine. Interestingly, the international spec is offered with a hybrid as standard. But in India, Honda is expected to offer a conventional NA petrol option to keep costs low. The hybrid powertrain is capable of producing 175bhp & 253 Nm, but we expect the power figures to be toned down slightly to maximise fuel efficiency with the next-gen Elevate. We expect its mileage figures to range between 25 and 28 kmpl. Honda has been pushing for hybrid technology since the late 2000s, and it could finally be using it on an SUV.

Next-Gen Honda Elevate – Features

We expect the next-gen Elevate to get features like –

10.25-inch infotainment screen

Level-2 ADAS

Panoramic glass roof

360-degree camera

Electric tailgate

Wireless charging

Powered and ventilated front seats

Electrically-adjustable ORVM

Auto-dimming IRVM

The outgoing Elevate is fairly well-equipped, and Honda would tweak the feature list to keep it competitive with the likes of the Creta, Seltos, Sierra, and others.

Expected Pricing

Due to these extensive changes, we expect the Elevate to become more expensive by around Rs 1 lakh for the petrol variants. It could now cost between Rs 15 to Rs 21 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). On the other hand, you would have to pay a hefty premium for the HEV version. We expect it to be priced around Rs 24-26 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This would make it more expensive than the likes of the Victoris, Grand Vitara and Hyryder. Other upcoming models, like the Duster hybrid, Creta hybrid, and Seltos hybrid, are expected to be priced below this range as well. Honda would need to keep prices aggressive if they wish to make the Elevate hybrid a hit in such a competitive market.
