Honda Cars India continues to intensify real-world testing of its upcoming electric SUV, based on the Honda 0 Alpha concept. After commencing pan-India validation earlier this year, the camouflaged prototype has now been spotted in Manali, offering the clearest look yet at its interior. The latest spy shots reveal a large landscape-oriented infotainment touchscreen alongside a fully digital instrument cluster, hinting at a technology-focused cabin.

Larger Screens Confirmed

Spy shots are credited to automotive enthusiast Parth Gupta. While the exterior remains heavily camouflaged, the latest sighting provides a better glimpse inside the cabin through the driver’s window. The dashboard features a wide, freestanding touchscreen infotainment display positioned at the centre, paired with a separate fully digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.

The touchscreen appears noticeably larger than the units currently offered on Honda’s India lineup and is likely to support wireless smartphone connectivity, connected car technology, navigation and EV-specific functions. Physical controls for the climate control system are also likely. The steering wheel also appears to feature a fresh design with multi-function controls, while the overall dashboard layout looks minimalist, in line with the Honda 0 Series philosophy showcased globally.

Familiar Exterior With Concept-Inspired Styling

The prototype continues to carry heavy camouflage with geometric graphics, although the underlying design is clearly visible. Up front, it retains the upright stance, squared-off proportions and signature lighting elements first seen on earlier prototypes. The front fascia features rectangular LED lighting modules connected by a slim black panel, while the rear gets vertically stacked tail lamps and a clean tailgate design.

The tall roofline, generous glass area and boxy silhouette suggest Honda is prioritising interior space alongside aerodynamic efficiency. Alloy wheels remain concealed beneath camouflage covers, indicating production-spec designs are yet to be revealed.

India To Play A Key Role

Honda has already confirmed that this electric SUV will be manufactured in India for both domestic and export markets. The model forms an important part of Honda’s future EV strategy despite the company’s recent global restructuring of its electric vehicle plans. Planned for launch in 2027, the production version will compete in the premium midsize electric SUV segment. It will likely rival the likes of Creta EV and upcoming Sierra EV.

During Honda’s global financial results presentation, Global CEO Toshihiro Mibe confirmed that India will be one of Honda’s priority markets alongside North America and Japan. As part of this strategy, Honda will launch multiple new cars. In 2026, Honda has already launched the new City, showcased the ZR-V hybrid SUV which is planned for launch in coming weeks.

Honda has also announced two all-new India-focused SUVs from 2028 onwards, including a sub-4 metre SUV and a midsize SUV. More importantly, Honda acknowledged that its earlier global product strategy did not fully address Indian customer requirements. Going forward, the company plans to develop vehicles specifically tailored for India with an optimal balance of performance, features and pricing, while making greater use of local engineering and development resources. In all, Honda has plans to launch 10 new cars in India by 2030.
