Hero MotoCorp has been working on a large displacement ADV motorcycle with a liquid cooled engine for some time now. First set of spy shots were from 2022 and a similar engine is seen with latest spy shots as well. The latest sighting is from Leh Ladakh region where this motorcycle has been testing in high altitude conditions.
While previous spy shots showed that these mules were being tested by Ross Branch and Nacho Corenjo from Hero MotoCorp’s Dakar Rally team, the new spy shots show the bike from up close. We can see what Hero MotoCorp is cooking with their upcoming flagship ADV which will take on heavy-weights like Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure.
New Hero Xpulse 420 Spied
Speculated to be called Hero Xpulse 420 or Xpulse 421, Hero MotoCorp’s upcoming flagship ADV has garnered massive interest among motorcycling enthusiasts. Spy shot instances are getting more frequent and the latest spy video is one of the clearest and comprehensive yet, showing the motorcycle from up close.
We can see that the upcoming Hero Xpulse 420 will have a slender saddle while the fuel tank is high-set and looks like it could hold around 15L of fuel. We wish it comes with higher capacity. There is a single-piece seat with scooped design for rider for comfort and reachability. There is a sturdy-looking rear luggage rack with pillion grab rail.
Other notable attributes include off-road foot pegs, a sturdy rear swingarm, a semi-fairing, a tall windshield which may be adjustable, high-set handlebar, knuckle guards, conventional and functional wide ORVMs, an up-swept exhaust which should allow for some water wading, a TFT instrument cluster which could be shared with Xpulse 210 and more.
This cluster is likely to come with Bluetooth connectivity, music control and turn-by-turn navigation. Full LED lighting, traction control system, dual-channel ABS with switchable rear ABS, multiple riding modes ride-by-wire system are expected too. Previous spy shots confirm cruise control with this motorcycle, which we wish was offered with Xpulse 210 too.
Robust Underpinnings
In terms of cycle parts, upcoming Hero Xpulse 420 can be seen rolling on wire-spoke wheels which could support tube-type block pattern tyres. There is disc brakes on both wheels, fully adjustable USD telescopic front forks and rear mono-shock suspension and all of these seem to be mounted on a trellis frame.
The engine is hidden behind the fairing, but previous spy shots have shown what looks like a liquid-cooled setup with a DOHC head setup. 4V/cyl config is highly likely and the engine is speculated to displace 421cc. 45 bhp of peak power and 40 Nm of peak torque is expected from this engine.
