Marvel officially announced a special podcast tied to the release of Avengers: Doomsday, titled Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday Official Podcast.
Marvel in the 2022's Ms. Marvel on Disney+ and 2023's The Marvels in theaters.
She is also a Marvel Comics writer, having written 2023's Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant in 2023 and Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace in 2024, both with Sabir Pizada.
Avengers: Doomsday then comes to theaters on Dec. 18, 2026.
After Spider-Man: Brand New Day became a record-breaking hit, the next chapter in Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga will come this December with the release of Avengers: Doomsday. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, this movie will bring Robert Downey Jr. back for a new role as Doctor Doom, pitting him against the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and more with the fate of the entire multiverse in play. This will feature the biggest cast of stars in any comic-book movie ever, with about 30 stars from the MCU and legacy Marvel films already confirmed, and more expected to join.
The lead-up to Doomsday is starting to ramp up, as its trailers have pulled in massive viewing numbers, and presales for tickets are through the proverbial roof. Additionally, fans are starting to prep for the fifth Avengers movie with rewatch marathons, binging as many past MCU and non-MCU movies as possible to get ready for everything coming from what should be the biggest movie of the year. Marvel officially announced a special podcast tied to the release of Avengers: Doomsday, titled Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday Official Podcast. Frank Alvarez, the co-host of the weekly comedy podcast The Basement Yard, will host this series; additionally, he will be joined by special guest host Iman Vellani. Vellani is best known for playing Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in the 2022's Ms. Marvel on Disney+ and 2023's The Marvels in theaters. She is also a Marvel Comics writer, having written 2023's Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant in 2023 and Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace in 2024, both with Sabir Pizada.
This podcast will have five episodes, which begin releasing on Aug. 27. Each episode will take a deep dive into key MCU films that lead up to Doomsday, including the first four Avengers movies and 2016's Captain America: Civil War. This will show Alvarez and Vellani recapping the movies, touching on their greatest moments, and discussing the impact each has had on pop culture. The final episode (discussing 2019's Avengers: Endgame) will be released on Sept. 25, coinciding with the release of Avengers: Endgame Encore in theaters. This podcast will be available to watch on Disney+ and YouTube, and the audio will be available on all podcast platforms.

No actor in the MCU has proven to be a bigger fan of this franchise than Vellani, who came into the MCU as an expert in the franchise's history, as well as in general Marvel knowledge. Having grown up as a diehard Iron Man fan, the Ms. Marvel star is now recognized as much for her love of the Marvel Universe as she is for her starring role as one of its heroes. Having her insight into these five movies will give listeners plenty of new perspective on the Infinity Saga while setting the stage for everything coming in Avengers: Doomsday.
The big question now is whether Vellani will be part of Avengers: Doomsday's cast, which would be her third live-action appearance after Ms. Marvel and The Marvels. She was last seen alongside Brie Larson's Carol Danvers on Earth, as they started figuring out how to get Teyonah Parris's Monica Rambeau back from the undisclosed alternate universe she is in. Some have theorized that her bangles may also play a role in the broader narrative, but for now, her place in it remains a mystery.
