Mahindra is set to launch a facelifted version of the Thar three-door tomorrow, arriving less than a year after the SUV's last update in 2025. Camouflaged prototypes have been spotted testing over the past few months, alongside official teasers from Mahindra, giving a fairly clear picture of what to expect before the reveal.
On design, expect a reworked grille with a honeycomb pattern and a possible new alloy wheel design up front. Spy shots suggest the Thar will borrow some styling elements from its five-door sibling, the Thar Roxx, including projector LED headlamps paired with C-shaped daytime running lamps, along with revised bumpers and updated tail lamp detailing.
Inside, the cabin layout is expected to stay largely unchanged, though Mahindra could introduce leatherette seat upholstery and refreshed trim materials to keep things feeling current. On the features front, this update looks likely to plug some of the gaps that remained even after last year's changes, which had already added a 10.25-inch touchscreen, rear AC vents, a rear wiper and washer, and a rearview camera. This time around, a digital driver's display, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, a wireless charger and automatic climate control are all expected additions.
Under the hood, the engine line-up is likely to carry over unchanged, with a 117bhp, 1.5-litre diesel, a 130bhp, 2.2-litre diesel, and a 150bhp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, all paired with a six-speed manual as standard, while the 2.2-litre diesel and turbo-petrol also offer a six-speed automatic. Drivetrain layouts stay split as before too, with the 1.5-litre diesel offered only with rear-wheel drive and the 2.2-litre diesel exclusively with 4x4, while the turbo-petrol continues to offer both.
