Korean carriers roll out preorder perks for pricier iPhone 18 Pro

Korea’s three major mobile carriers will begin taking preorders for Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro series at 9 p.m. on Saturday. In Korea, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at 1.99 million won ($1,480), a price increase of more than 200,000 won over the iPhone 17 Pro. Preorder customers will also gain access to the exclusive T Membership program “Club iPhone 18 Pro,” which offers benefits including movie tickets and coffee vouchers. The iPhone Pro Max will start at 2.19 million won in Korea. Its price starts at 3.29 million won.

From vouchers to accessories, the major telecoms are incentivizing consumers to upgrade to the latest Apple phone, which is 200,000 won ($150) more expensive than the iPhone 17.

The new devices officially roll out on Sept. 18. Those who preordered will be first in line to receive the devices. In Korea, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at 1.99 million won ($1,480), a price increase of more than 200,000 won over the iPhone 17 Pro.

SK Telecom will offer customers placing orders through its online marketplace a chance to win vouchers worth up to 300,000 won toward the purchase of a new device. Customers who trade in their existing phones can receive up to 1.22 million won depending on the model and condition, while the first 1,000 customers will receive an additional 100,000 won.

Preorder customers will also gain access to the exclusive T Membership program “Club iPhone 18 Pro,” which offers benefits including movie tickets and coffee vouchers. Those who activate their devices by Oct. 18 can receive subscriptions to Google AI Plus and the streaming service Tving.

Carriers are also offering discounts and other perks to customers who purchase Apple accessories with their new iPhones.

KT customers who subscribe to its “Choice Double Device” program that extends benefits to two devices along with the iPhone purchase will receive AirPods Pro 3. The carrier will also provide subsidies on a first come, first served basis to customers who purchase an Apple Watch with their iPhone. Another KT perk targets customers planning to switch phones in two years and will cover up to half of the original retail price.

A preorder package by LG U+ includes discount coupons of up to 200,000 won for purchases made through its official online store. Customers can add another 180,000 won to their trade-in credit. Those who register for the telecom's trade-in program are guaranteed up to half of the device’s original retail price upon upgrading after two years. LG U+ will also hold a drawing for preorder customers with prizes, such as an LG StanbyME 2 Max TV and AirPods Max 2.

The iPhone Pro Max will start at 2.19 million won in Korea. Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, will become available for preorder at 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Its price starts at 3.29 million won.
