Kangana Ranaut-Baba Ramdev exchange love on Raksha Bandhan, end days of public spat

Actor Kangana Ranaut and yoga guru Baba Ramdev have buried the hatchet after days of trading barbs. However, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Ramdev reached out to Kangana and said he wanted to end the "vivaad" with "samvaad". Baba Ramdev said: "Behen Kangana Ranaut ko ye gift aur ye mithai hum by post bhej de rahe hain. Aaj hum phone bhi lagayenge Kangana behen ko aur unko bolenge Raksha Bandhan ki shubhkamnayein." On Raksha Bandhan today, I accept both his sweets and the love of my elder brother.

Actor Kangana Ranaut and yoga guru Baba Ramdev have buried the hatchet after days of trading barbs. On Friday, while celebrating Raksha Bandhan, the two decided to end the controversy that began when Ramdev called out Kangana over her remarks on Gen Z protesters.

In the days that followed, the BJP MP hit back at the yoga guru in multiple interviews, taking their disagreement from a social media spat to a full-blown public war of words. However, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Ramdev reached out to Kangana and said he wanted to end the "vivaad" with "samvaad". Kangana, in turn, accepted his gesture and said she forgave him on the occasion of the festival.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Ramdev referred to Kangana as his "shraddhamayi behen" and stressed that there should be no hatred or animosity in the country.

Baba Ramdev said: "Behen Kangana Ranaut ko ye gift aur ye mithai hum by post bhej de rahe hain. Kisi bhi prakar se, kisi bhi karan se nafrat desh me nahi honi chahiye. Ek dusre ke prati bair bhaav nahi hona chahiye. Isilye humne sab bair ka parityag karein. Pichle dino ek vivad utha ki Swami Ram Dev me aur humari shraddhamayi behen Kangana Ranaut me kahin vivad toh nahi ho gaya. Vivaad ko samvaad se khatm karein. Aaj hum phone bhi lagayenge Kangana behen ko aur unko bolenge Raksha Bandhan ki shubhkamnayein."

The statement can be loosely translated into English as: "We are sending this gift and these sweets by post to sister Kangana Ranaut. There should be no hatred in the country for any reason whatsoever. There should be no animosity towards one another. That is why we should give up all hostility. Recently, a controversy arose over whether there was some disagreement between Swami Ramdev and our respected sister Kangana Ranaut. Let us end the controversy through dialogue. Today, we will also call sister Kangana and wish her on Raksha Bandhan."

Kangana Ranaut, while acknowledging Ramdev's new gesture, said in her Instagram Story: "Tyohar ka din hota he sab bhool chook maaf karne ke liye hai, mere bhai Baba Ram Dev ji ne bahot achcha kaha ki vivaad nahi samvaad hona chahiye. Aaj Rakshabandhan ke din main unki mithai aur bade bhai ka prem dono swikaar karti hoon. Bahut dhanyawad Ishwar aapko lambi aayu de."

The statement can be loosely translated into English as, "Festivals are meant to forgive and forget all mistakes. My brother Baba Ramdev ji said it very well that there should be dialogue, not controversy. On Raksha Bandhan today, I accept both his sweets and the love of my elder brother. Thank you very much. May God bless you with a long life."

Ramdev's statement came after days of the two exchanging barbs over Kangana's comments on Gen Z protesters, including calling them a "Gutter Generation". The yoga guru had objected to her remarks and questioned the way she had spoken about the younger generation.

Speaking to TV9, he earlier said, "What was her childhood like? What was her youth like? What were her past accomplishments like? I don't want to talk about such people. Calling the youth 'generation gutter' is a sign of a corrupted mind."

When asked to react to the comments during an interview with DD News, Kangana asked whether Ramdev was “hanging in my bedroom like a bat” to find out about her personal life.

Responding to Ramdev's Raksha Bandhan message, Kangana said that festivals are meant for forgiveness and accepted both his sweets and his affection as an elder brother.

What began as a disagreement over Kangana's comments on Gen Z protesters ended with the two choosing the spirit of Raksha Bandhan over their differences.
