Jipmer organises month-long awareness programme on Uterine cancer

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Jipmer organised a month-long awareness campaign on Uterine (Endometrial) cancer in June. The awareness programme, included community outreach, patient education, training for healthcare professionals and academic activities. Jipmer in a release said Uterine (Endometrial) cancer is among the common cancers affecting women. Continued public awareness, healthy lifestyle practices, and regular consultation with qualified healthcare professionals remain essential in reducing the burden of the disease. Adopting a healthy lifestyle was important to prevent such diseases, the release said.

Jipmer in a release said Uterine (Endometrial) cancer is among the common cancers affecting women. Early recognition of symptoms could lead to timely diagnosis and good treatment outcomes.

Continued public awareness, healthy lifestyle practices, and regular consultation with qualified healthcare professionals remain essential in reducing the burden of the disease. Women should not ignore post-menopausal bleeding and unusually prolonged menstrual bleeding, the doctors said in the release.

Obesity, sedentary lifestyle, nulliparity (medical condition of never given birth to a child), late menopause, diabetes and hypertension are important risk factors and commonly associated conditions. Adopting a healthy lifestyle was important to prevent such diseases, the release said.
