An orange warning has simultaneously been sounded for Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Gajapati and Ganjam, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places. Several other districts, including coastal and northern Odisha, remain under a Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall.

The weather situation is expected to intensify further on the second day, with the Red Warning shifting towards central Odisha. Sambalpur, Angul, Sonepur, Boudh and Kandhamal have been placed under Red Alert, with forecasts of heavy to very heavy rainfall along with extremely heavy rain at isolated locations. The Orange Warning on the second day covers Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Nayagarh, indicating widespread heavy rainfall capable of affecting transportation and normal activities.

From the third day onwards, the focus of heavy rainfall is expected to move towards northern Odisha. Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj have been placed under an orange warning for three consecutive days, from July 5 to July 8, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at isolated places. Yellow Warnings continue for adjoining districts, suggesting persistent monsoon activity across large parts of the state.

The weather office has warned that the expected rainfall could lead to localized flooding of roads, waterlogging in low-lying urban areas, closure of underpasses, poor visibility, traffic congestion and longer travel times. Minor damage to kutcha roads and vulnerable structures is also possible, while hilly districts remain susceptible to landslides, mudslides and land subsidence. Standing crops and horticultural plantations may suffer damage due to inundation, and river catchments could experience rising water levels, increasing the risk of riverine flooding.

In view of the forecast, people have been advised to monitor traffic conditions before travelling, follow advisories issued by local authorities, avoid waterlogged stretches and landslide-prone areas, and refrain from staying in weak or vulnerable structures during periods of intense rainfall. Authorities are expected to closely monitor the evolving weather situation, particularly in districts under red and orange warnings, as the state prepares for a prolonged spell of heavy monsoon showers.
