The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at various places across the state till July 12.
The IMD has particularly warned of thunderstorms with lightning in Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts for the next three days.
For Thursday, the weather office has issued a thunderstorm alert for six districts Sundargarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak.

Residents in the affected districts have been advised to remain alert during thunderstorm activity and take necessary precautions against lightning strikes.
