Skoda Track Day
Skoda has a rich motorsport history with cars like the Fabia and Octavia, which were part of its WRC heritage. And the RS badges that we see on the Skoda Octavia and Kodiaq basically mean “Rally Sport”. To showcase the performance its passenger vehicles possessed, Skoda arranged a G.O.A.T. (Greatest On A Track). Skoda arranged this track day at the CoASTT circuit in Coimbatore, a 3.8km long track, where every Skoda car from the Kylaq and Octavia RS. Thanks to this event, Skoda also set a new record in the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records for the Fastest Multi-Car Relay of a Single Manufacturer on a Circuit!” That said, let’s take a look at how the cars performed, starting with the most affordable Skoda, the Kylaq.

5. Kylaq
The Kylaq is the smallest and most affordable car in the brand’s lineup and comes equipped with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (114bhp & 178Nm) along with an AT. At CoASTT, Kylaq managed to complete the lap in 2 minutes 31.6 seconds, which is quite impressive. Being the smallest on the list, is this enough to beat the larger Kushaq? Let’s take a look!

4. & 3. Skoda Track Day – Kushaq And Slavia
The Kushaq is a powerful and agile SUV, and we believe the SUV has a lot of potential to unleash on track. Under the hood is a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (148bhp & 250Nm) along with a 7-speed DSG. The Kushaq managed to lap the circuit in 2 minutes 29.7 seconds. So, what about its sedan sibling, the Slavia? The Slavia that was driven on track also gets the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, and it managed to complete the lap within 2 minutes 27.63 seconds. Both these track times are quite impressive, but will the Slavia and Kushaq be faster than the Kodiaq?

2. Kodiaq
The Kodiaq is a premium SUV designed to offer a comfortable and luxurious driving experience. Compared to the Slavia and Kushaq, the Kodiaq is bulkier, which could result in a higher track time, right? Well, that’s not the case here! The Kodiaq has completed the lap in 2 minutes 26.34 seconds and ranks second on this list, thanks to its 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine (201bhp & 320Nm), AWD and 7-speed DSG. While it is more of a comfort-oriented SUV, it is still a Skoda! Now, to the star of the show, the Octavia RS! Care to guess its lap time?

1. Skoda Track Day – Octavia RS
Well, this is literally the Octavia RS’ playground. The Octavia RS has always been the most powerful, agile and aggressive Skoda, since 4 generations of the sedan. Powering the Octavia is a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine (261bhp & 320Nm), a 7-speed DSG and AWD. But that’s not it! The Octavia gets a sports-tuned chassis for better handling and stability under aggressive driving. All of this resulted in a lap time of 2 minutes and 10.85 seconds – 15 seconds quicker than the Kodiaq!
