The East Zone emerged winner in the Dengue Prevention League (DPL) organised by the Coimbatore Corporation to identify and remove mosquito breeding sources, including discarded plastic containers and other items that collect water.
Held from August 4 to 14 across Coimbatore city, the league recorded 44,65,735 source reductions across the five zones.
The East Zone topped the tally with 11,84,259 source reductions, followed by the West Zone with 11,04,773.
The Central, North and South zones recorded 9,43,248, 8,92,714 and 3,40,741 reductions, respectively.
