A doctor has been arrested in Ahmedabad for allegedly molesting a 25-year-old woman patient under the pretext of conducting a physical examination for a gastric ulcer at a private hospital in Memnagar.
The accused, identified as Dr Vraj Satishkumar Patel, was arrested following a complaint by the woman at Vastrapur police station.
Police said that later that night, at around 8 pm, the doctor allegedly asked her to remove her innerwear and examined her breasts without wearing gloves.
At around 6:30 pm on October 2, Patel allegedly took the woman into Room No.
According to the complaint, the doctor then allegedly touched the woman inappropriately and inserted his fingers into her private parts and anus without wearing gloves.

According to the complaint and police, the woman, who lives in Vastrapur and studies at a reputed local institute, had been suffering from an ulcer and visited the Gastro and Liver Hospital in Memnagar for treatment.
During her initial consultation, Patel examined her, including conducting a sonography, and prescribed medication.
When her condition did not improve after completing the medication, the woman returned to the hospital with her family on the evening of October 1 and was admitted for further treatment.
Police said that later that night, at around 8 pm, the doctor allegedly asked her to remove her innerwear and examined her breasts without wearing gloves. No female staff member was present during the examination, according to the complaint.
The alleged misconduct continued the following day. At around 6:30 pm on October 2, Patel allegedly took the woman into Room No. 5 of the hospital and locked the door from inside.
Police said he claimed that he needed to examine her abdomen and, in the absence of female staff, allegedly made her remove her undergarments twice.
According to the complaint, the doctor then allegedly touched the woman inappropriately and inserted his fingers into her private parts and anus without wearing gloves.
The woman subsequently informed her family about the alleged incident and, with their assistance, approached the Vastrapur police.
Police registered an FIR against Patel under Sections 64(1) and 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deal with rape and assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to disrobe, respectively. The accused, who resides in Ahmedabad's Thaltej area, was taken into custody on October 4.
The police investigation is now underway, with authorities examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged incidents and the treatment provided to the woman.
Further legal proceedings will follow based on the investigation and evidence collected in the case. Patel has been sent to Central Jail following his production before the court.
