Defeating the Walking Weapon to enter the AEW World Championship match at WrestleDream (as recapped by Jerome Wilen in his ongoing live coverage of the show), the former AEW World Tag Team Champion addressed the status of his tag partner Christian Cage, revealing he sustained three broken ribs with one broken in three places, along with a collapsed lung early on in the match.
Pivoting from this, Copeland revealed that after what happened to Cage, he realized that he is “aging out” of the business before announcing that 2027 will be his last year in professional wrestling.
