Dipika Kakar's conversion to Islam was not for marriage.
Even though Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim have been married for right years now, their relationship is often questioned with many alleging that the actress converted to Islam only to marry Ibrahim. However, Dipika’s Sasural Simar Ka co-star Jayati Bhatia has revealed that it was never the case.
In a recent interview, Bhatia talked about Dipika’s decision and clarified that embracing Islam was not a condition of marriage. “It is well known that Dipika gives her 100 percent to everything, whatever job she might be doing. When she got in a relationship with Shoaib, she wanted to give 100 percent to that relationship," she told Siddharth Kannan, as quoted by Siasat.com.
“I asked her if she converted because of her marriage. She said no. She was going through a difficult time and she went to Ajmer Sharif and it came to her that she wanted to do this, and she did. It wasn’t because of marriage or anything; maybe she got her strength from this," Bhatia added.
Jayati further mentioned that Dipika decided to change her religion because she found strength in Islam. “If she was getting strength from praying, she decided then that she would like to convert, and it is absolutely a personal choice," the actress said.
Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim’s Love Story
Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim’s love story began on the sets of the popular television show Sasural Simar Ka, where the two first met in 2011. They played the lead roles of Simar and Prem and gradually developed a close friendship. Over time, their bond blossomed into love.
After dating for several years, Dipika and Shoaib tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony on February 22, 2018, in Bhopal, in presence of their families and close friends.
Five years after their marriage, the couple embraced parenthood. Dipika and Shoaib welcomed their first child, a baby boy and named him Ruhaan.
