Rishabh Pant fails to understand Ian Bishop's question

Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant found himself in an awkward moment while speaking to Ian Bishop during the toss interview. LSG lost the toss and were invited to bat in Jaipur. When asked about the changes to the playing XI, Pant said that Aiden Markram had flown back home due to personal reasons, while Mohammad Shami was replaced by Mohsin Khan.

“Pretty confident, we know this is a good wicket to bat on. Happy to either bat or bowl first. Definitely, as I said in the last few games, we have a lot to play for. As a team, we take pride and confidence in playing every match for our fans," Pant said during the toss.

“At the same time, we want to put our best foot forward because we know we have a good team and we can do it. Aiden (Markram) is not there because he has gone (home) for his personal thing. And just one more, Shami is not playing, and Mohsin is playing. Badoni comes in for Aiden," the LSG skipper added.

However, awkward scenes unfolded when Bishop asked the reason behind Shami’s absence, and Pant failed to understand the question. The situation turned unintentionally hilarious as the LSG skipper misunderstood the query, assuming he was being asked about the replacement instead.

As Bishop persisted, Pant continued to respond with team changes, leaving the former West Indies cricketer amused and eventually prompting him to wrap up the exchange. The light-hearted moment quickly went viral, adding a dose of humour to an otherwise high-stakes contest.

Bishop: “No what’s the issue with Shami? Shami’s out"

Pant: “Shami’s out. Mohsin is in."

Bishop: “Right. So I’m asking…."

Pant: “And Aiden is… Badoni comes in for Aiden".

Bishop: “Alright, we can leave that there for the moment. Thank you very much for your time"

Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants posted a formidable 220/5 after being put in to bat by Rajasthan Royals. Mitchell Marsh led the charge with a blistering 96 off 57 balls, extending his rich vein of form. He shared a 109-run opening stand with Josh Inglis, who struck a rapid 60 off 29, as LSG raced to 83 without loss in the powerplay.

Pant chipped in with a brisk 35 off 23 before being run out in the final over. While LSG are already out of playoff contention, RR remain in a tight race for the final spot and desperately needs a win.
