Instagram has launched Instagram Plus, a new paid subscription service that offers users additional features focused on story sharing, audience management, profile customisation and content insights.
Instagram Plus features are grouped into three categories: interaction and sharing tools, story insights, and profile customisation.
Among the social and sharing features, subscribers will be able to use Story Spotlight, which gives stories priority visibility among friends.
Additional features will be added to the subscription service over time.
Meta had announced testing the premium subscription service on the platform in January earlier this year in select countries.
Instagram has launched Instagram Plus, a new paid subscription service that offers users additional features focused on story sharing, audience management, profile customisation and content insights.
The subscription is being rolled out globally as an optional offering, while the standard version of the app will continue to remain free.
Instagram Plus features are grouped into three categories: interaction and sharing tools, story insights, and profile customisation.
Among the social and sharing features, subscribers will be able to use Story Spotlight, which gives stories priority visibility among friends. The service also includes Super Hearts, animated reactions that can be sent in response to friends' stories.
Users can create multiple custom story audiences, allowing them to share different stories with different groups of people. Another feature, Story Extend, enables stories to remain visible for 48 hours instead of the platform's standard 24-hour period.
The subscription also introduces several story-viewing and analytics tools. Story Preview allows users to preview stories before interacting with them. Story Rewatch Insights provides data on how many times a story has been viewed again by users, while Search Viewer List lets subscribers search for a specific person's name within the list of story viewers.
Instagram Plus also includes profile and app customisation options. Subscribers can choose from a selection of custom app icons and apply different font styles to their profile bios.
Additional profile features include the ability to pin up to six posts on a profile, compared with the current limit available to standard users. Subscribers can also publish content directly to their profile or highlights without having it appear in followers' feeds.
Additional features will be added to the subscription service over time.
Meta had announced testing the premium subscription service on the platform in January earlier this year in select countries. While the test began in March, it is said to be separate from Meta Verified, which is targeted at creators and businesses. Instagram Plus is designed for general users.
