All three ‌missing Indian seafarers have died ⁠after a U.S. military strike on ‌a tanker in the ‌Gulf of ‌Oman, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said on Thursday (June 11, 2026). India had summoned the U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission after lodging ⁠a “strong protest” against the strike.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday (June 11, 2026) he has called off new military strikes on Iran, hours after threatening to escalate the war. The President said in a social media post that he made the move “based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved”.

Earlier on Thursday (June 11, 2026), Mr. Trump said that the U.S. will strike Iran “very hard”, adding that “At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets”.

A day after the U.S. forces attacked tanker Settebello, another vessel, MV Jalveer, was attacked under similar circumstances near Oman on Thursday (June 11, 2026). This is the third such incident in four days. MV Jalveer is a Guinea-Bissau flagged asphalt tanker.
