The U.S. military has allowed at least 12 ships to pass through its naval blockade of Iran’s ports following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, Vice-President J.D.
“On the blockade, CENTCOM has allowed north of a dozen ships to go through our naval blockade, and so we’re also honouring our end of the early part of the agreement,” Mr. Vance told journalists, referring to the U.S. military command responsible for West Asia.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday (June 18, 2026) signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding – aimed at restoring peace in West Asia – as the key mediator of the negotiations, his office said.
Mr. Sharif announced that the signing of the document will instantly reopen the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. will immediately lift its naval blockade.
