Iran’s foreign ministry said on Monday (August 3, 2026) there were currently no negotiations with the United States, but talks were taking place with Oman on management of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday (August 2) said talks with Iran would happen on Monday but declined to set a deadline for an agreement after earlier saying he had called off an imminent attack in hopes of quickly reaching a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resolve the impasse over Tehran’s nuclear capabilities.
