The order, which will be executed during FY28 and FY29, takes Welspun Corp’s global order book to a record $4.4 billion (about ₹42,100 crore), the highest in the company’s history, according to a regulatory filing late Thursday night.
With the latest order, Welspun Corp’s $4.4 billion global order book provides visibility for growth beyond the current financial year.
The company expects its US order book to provide significant execution visibility over the next few years.
The latest win sharply increases Welspun’s order book from about ₹25,300 crore at the end of Q1 FY27.
Welspun Corp, the flagship company of Welspun World, has a diversified portfolio spanning line pipes, ductile iron pipes, stainless steel bars, pipes and tubes and TMT rebars.
Welspun Corp has landed a ₹17,200 crore US pipe order, its largest-ever single contract, putting the company at the centre of the next leg of America’s gas infrastructure expansion and giving it revenue visibility through 2030.
The order, comprising LSAW and spiral pipes, is linked to a project to move natural gas from the prolific Permian Basin to the US Gulf Coast, according to a report by Nuvama Research. The order comes against the backdrop of sustained demand for large-diameter pipes in the US, supported by natural gas pipeline infrastructure and the expansion of LNG exports.
The order, which will be executed during FY28 and FY29, takes Welspun Corp’s global order book to a record $4.4 billion (about ₹42,100 crore), the highest in the company’s history, according to a regulatory filing late Thursday night. The order is the largest ever awarded to the company and strengthens its position in the North American energy infrastructure market, where Welspun has been expanding its manufacturing capacity and customer relationships.
Stronger foothold in North American energy infrastructure
The company said the order reflects the confidence of major global energy players in Welspun as a partner for large, complex and mission-critical pipe infrastructure projects. It also provides multi-year revenue visibility and is expected to support the company’s growth in the North American market. “North America has been a strategically important market for us, and we have continued to invest ahead of the curve to strengthen our manufacturing and technological capabilities in the region,” Welspun World chairman B K Goenka stated in an official release.
The size of the order, he added, reinforces the company’s strategy and positions it to participate in the next phase of energy infrastructure development in the US. With the latest order, Welspun Corp’s $4.4 billion global order book provides visibility for growth beyond the current financial year. The company said its US manufacturing operations would play a key role in executing the order over FY28 and FY29.
Welspun expects strong demand to continue, with the US market also seeing spending linked to data centres and energy infrastructure, Nuvama Research stated in its report on Friday. The company expects its US order book to provide significant execution visibility over the next few years. The latest contract is particularly important because it is tied to the Permian Basin, one of the US’s key oil and gas producing regions, and infrastructure connecting production to the Gulf Coast. Nuvama said the project, along with one or two additional projects in nearby regions, could support further order opportunities for Welspun.
Welspun is expected to execute the large order through its existing US capacity, along with debottlenecking and capacity augmentation. The company currently has US volume capacity of around 3.5 million tonnes, which it aims to increase to about 7 million tonnes over the next two years. A new US plant is also expected to become operational from December 2026, providing additional capacity. Importantly, management does not currently envisage another major capex programme beyond the ongoing investments. The company believes its existing capacity, after debottlenecking and augmentation, should provide room to execute the new order as well as pursue additional opportunities.
The latest win sharply increases Welspun’s order book from about ₹25,300 crore at the end of Q1 FY27. Around 60-65% of the current order book is from the US, with the US component expected to be executed over the next three to three-and-a-half years. Nuvama estimates that the company’s US line-pipe volumes could grow 25% in FY27, 35% in FY28 and 30% in FY29, while US margins are expected to remain healthy. Management has indicated that it continues to target ₹2,800 crore of EBITDA in FY27 and believes doubling EBITDA by FY30 is achievable if all geographies perform well.
Nuvama has consequently raised its FY27, FY28 and FY29 EPS estimates by 3%, 13% and 20%, respectively, and raised its target price on the stock to ₹2,656 from ₹1,890, while retaining its BUY rating.
Global manufacturing footprint
The latest win follows Welspun Corp’s broader strategy to expand its global manufacturing footprint and invest ahead of demand. The company operates manufacturing facilities in India, the US and Saudi Arabia and supplies customers across more than 50 countries and six continents. Welspun Corp, the flagship company of Welspun World, has a diversified portfolio spanning line pipes, ductile iron pipes, stainless steel bars, pipes and tubes and TMT rebars. Its portfolio also includes Sintex, which operates in water storage tanks and advanced plastic piping solutions, including OPVC.
