Ahmed Khan reveals why Sanjay Dutt quit the film midway
After fans noticed Sanjay Dutt’s absence from Welcome To The Jungle, director Ahmed Khan decided to clear the air. In an interview with News 18, he stated that Dutt was eager to be part of the franchise as it allowed him to collaborate with his closest industry friends.
According to him, “Sanju baba loved the script, and he really wanted to be a part of the film. Film mein itne saare friends the unke – Jaggu dada (Jackie Shroff), Akshay etc. He was thrilled.” Apparently, he also shot a part of the film. But he had date issues and had to go to the US for his treatment, and Khan couldn’t shift the dates of so many actors.
Since adjusting the calendar of such big actors according to Dutt’s medical trip proved impossible, Ahmed and Sanjay didn’t go further with the film. But rather than leaving the production high and dry, the Munna Bhai MBBS actor took it upon himself to fix the situation.

Ahmed revealed that Sanjay called Suniel Shetty directly and convinced him to take over the character originally written for him. Dutt then reached out to Jackie Shroff, successfully requesting him to step into the character initially designated for Suniel.
“He set up a solution for his unavailability. We'll always remain grateful to Baba for that,” expressed the filmmaker.
In the same interview, Khan stated that Akshay Kumar supported him throughout the process of making the film. Even after they had exhausted the actor’s dates for the shoot, Khiladi Kumar asked him to relax and complete the film.
The Sky Force actor would always make sure he was okay and would ask him about his well-being every day. Akki’s gesture touched Ahmed’s heart. “It really motivated me. He’s a true friend. Who does this? He was a strong pillar of support,” stated Ahmed Khan.
