“These same countries have reduced their consumption to adapt. So we need to be very vigilant and we don’t want to miss anything. So we replenished our gas stocks. We are securing our supplies. For example, in diesel we consume approximately 600,000 tonnes per day, half of which we import. Well, we will secure that," Macron said.

“And so we have nothing to fear or frighten people. We must then tell the truth about geopolitical instability and what it creates in our country and we must prepare ourselves for this. This is exactly what France is doing and what it has accelerated in recent weeks," he added.

Macron’s remarks came as France steps up efforts to safeguard fuel and gas supplies amid disruptions to global energy markets. The French government has identified diesel, jet fuel and natural gas as key areas requiring increased attention as geopolitical tensions affect energy supplies and prices.
