Voyager is carrying a synopsis of Earth on a golden record.
The 12-inch gold-plated disc holds greetings in 55 languages, sounds like thunder and whale calls, and 90 minutes of music from Bach to Chuck Berry.
It also carries 116 images and a diagrammed map showing Earth's location, along with a cartridge and needle to play it.
