It's been about as tough a period as can be for Manchester United over the past week or so. Having lost to Manchester City in controversial circumstances on Sunday, the Red Devils were then dumped out of the League Cup by Brighton.
Things started so well for Michael Carrick's men as they raced to a two-goal lead inside the first 10 minutes, with Shea Lacey and Mason Mount finding the back of the net. Charalampos Kostoulas pulled one back on the brink of half-time, and from there a comeback almost felt inevitable.

After the full-time whistle, as the Man Utd stars disappeared down the tunnel, they were followed by chants of "What the f------ h--- was that?" Manager Carrick responded to the anger, telling the press:
"I totally understand the feelings of the supporters. We have to accept it. I totally accept it. It's on me ultimately. We can't accept that as a group. I take responsibility for it. The performance towards the end of the second half, that's on me. "We'll all be better. We have to be better. We want to win and want to win quickly."
Man Utd currently sit 13th in the Premier League, with one win, one draw, and two defeats from their first four games. They have fewer points (4) than newly promoted teams Hull City (8) and Ipswich Town (6).
They travel away to Fulham this weekend before the international break. Anything but a win at Craven Cottage will spark even more anger and will make for a very uncomfortable few weeks for Carrick.
