The injured were identified as Raj Kumar (60) and Prabhakar (55), residents of Karmik Nagar. According to preliminary information, the brothers were on their way to church when the speeding car struck their motorcycle.

Local residents rushed the injured to nearby hospitals. Raj Kumar was admitted to Max Aid Hospital, while Prabhakar was shifted to Star Hospital. Both are undergoing treatment for serious injuries.

According to the police, the car was allegedly driven by 17-year-old boy, a resident of Borabanda, who reportedly had no prior driving experience.

Investigators said the Baleno had been rented by one of the teenager's friends. After the vehicle was cleaned, it was allegedly left unattended with the keys inside. Police suspect the minor took the opportunity to drive the car despite not having a valid driving licence.

During the drive, the teenager allegedly lost control of the vehicle near Ellar Kishore High School. The car first ploughed into seven parked motorcycles and scooters before crashing into the motorcycle carrying the two brothers.

The impact caused extensive damage to the parked two-wheelers and left the two riders seriously injured, triggering panic among residents in the locality. Locals gathered at the scene soon after the crash and alerted emergency services.

The younger rider, who was driving, was quick enough to jump out of the two-wheeler but the rider behind - the elderly - is gravely injured.

Police reached the spot and shifted the damaged vehicles from the road to restore traffic. Officers also inspected the accident site and recorded statements from eyewitnesses as part of the investigation.

The Madhura Nagar Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Officials are examining the circumstances under which the minor gained access to the vehicle and whether any negligence on the part of the vehicle's owner or the person who rented the car contributed to the accident.

Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation, police said.
