In a post on X, Agarwal said Bihar deserved representation in the IPL like franchises such as Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. He also referred to cricketers like Ishan Kishan and Saqib Hussain while highlighting Bihar's contribution to Indian cricket.

"Don't you think Bihar deserves a team of its own, just like Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders? The soil of Bihar, after all, has given the country many exceptional cricketers," Agarwal wrote.

He added that it was his dream to ensure the youth of Bihar received opportunities in every field and pledged "unconditional support" towards promoting cricket and supporting players from the state.

Replying to the post, Samrat Choudhary said the Bihar government shared the same vision.

"I completely agree with you. For the cricketing 'emotion' of Bihar, the government is working in a 'mission' mode with a clear 'vision'. With your cooperation, a positive decision will certainly be taken regarding Bihar's IPL cricket team," Choudhary wrote on X.

Bihar sports minister Shreyasi Singh also welcomed the proposal and said the sports department would work towards making it a reality.

"All of us want Bihar's players to get a proper platform and a rightful place where, through good performances, they can boost Bihar's repute. At this juncture, this tweet by Anil Agarwal ji is certainly welcome," Singh told PTI Videos.

Singh also said Bihar had the infrastructure needed to host IPL matches.

"The infrastructure is ready. To utilise that infrastructure, we are working enthusiastically to prepare our players not just in cricket, but in other sports as well. If we can host international competitions in rugby, hockey and other sports, then we can certainly host IPL matches as well," she said.

The IPL expanded from eight teams to 10 in 2022 with the addition of Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants.
