Upcoming Rs 15 Lakh SUV – Best In Segment?
Well, Jeep is planning to launch a new SUV in India. While some might think Jeep will bring an SUV already sold in international markets, rumours suggest it will be an all-new model under the Stellantis-Tata partnership. For this, Tata will be helping the American automaker, Jeep with a new platform, that is expected to be the Argos (which is used by the Tata Sierra).
Why this platform? This architecture is claimed to be compatible with several powertrains including petrol, diesel, hybrid and CNG. Along with that, this architecture is also said to be compatible for having 4×4 drivetrain, something which Jeep is known to build around.
So, we can expect the Jeep SUV that will be built on the Argos, will come with 4×4 drive train, and so will be one exciting product in this segment. Along with the 4×4 drive train, we also expect Jeep to source the 1.5-litre ICE powertrains from Tata Sierra; while, it could continue with the 2.0-litre diesel mill. On the contrary, we can also expect a hybrid powertrain with this SUV. That can be again sourced from Tata.

Jeep hasn’t yet revealed any detail regarding the features suite of this SUV. However, as it will be a Creta rival, which is already a feature-rich model, we expect Jeep to not compromise on the features. We assume the features suite on the model to include a big infotainment screen, could even be a triple screen layout like the Sierra. Moreover, a Level 2+ ADAS suite, 360-degree camera, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with ventilation function could be included in the pack.

Launch & Price
The Jeep hasn’t yet revealed a specific launch timeline for the model. However, it has already said that the model will be launched by late 2027 or early 2028. Now, as this model will be poisitned above the Compass in its lineup, we expect it to be priced between Rs 16 Lakh and Rs 26 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). An aggressive price can put an impact, and could eventually bring out some sales for the brand, but will it be adopting that approach will need to be seen.
