Toyota Taisor Hybrid – What To Expect?
Maruti is reportedly working on a new in-house series hybrid powertrain. This hybrid powertrain would be used on many of its affordable models like the Swift, Baleno and the Fronx. Toyota is expected to borrow this hybrid technology for the Glanza and Taisor as well. The Maruti Fronx hybrid has been spotted testing a couple of times, suggesting that both Fronx and Taisor hybrid aren’t far away.
Except for a couple of hybrid badges, it could be difficult to set the hybrid apart from the standard version. The crossover-like stance is a key driving factor behind its sales, and Toyota won’t mess around with that recipe much for the hybrid. The hybrid could get a few aesthetic touches like aero wheels and newer paint schemes.

Toyota Taisor Hybrid – Powertrain
We expect the hybrid powertrain to be mated to the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine. This Z-series engine is also used in the Swift and Dzire, and is known for its great fuel mileage figures. So it only makes sense that Maruti/Toyota utilise the hybrid technology on its most fuel-effiicient engine. The engine is capable of a claimed figure of around 25-26 kmpl, and with the hybrid system, this figure could cross the 30kmpl mark.

Rivals
Currently, the cheapest HEV costs around Rs 19 lakh, but that is soon set to change. The Taisor hybrid is expected to go up against other upcoming models like the Fronx hybrid and Sonet hybrid. These models would make HEVs more accessible than ever.
Toyota Taisor Hybrid – Expected Launch & Pricing
The Taisor hybrid will launch shortly after the Fronx hybrid, which could push its launch to around late 2027. The Glanza hybrid could also be launched around that time. As for pricing, the Taisor hybrid could cost between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This would make it significantly cheaper than the next hybrid SUV in its range. The hybrid would command a chunky premium over the standard version, but you must not forget the savings made on fuel costs. And with the rising fuel costs, the hybrid could become a life saver for buyers.
