Top 6 Car OEM Sales June 2026

Maruti Suzuki remained comfortably ahead of the competition with 1,47,187 units sold in June 2026, registering 23.8% YoY growth. The company accounted for 40.6% of the combined sales among the top six carmakers. Although sales were lower than May’s 1,90,337 units, the decline largely reflects inventory correction after stronger dispatches in the previous month.

The battle for second place remained close between Tata Motors and Mahindra. Tata Motors retained the No.2 position with 62,076 units, recording the highest YoY growth among mainstream manufacturers at 67.4%. The sharp increase was supported by strong demand for its updated product lineup and record EV sales.

Mahindra followed closely with 60,393 units, posting 27.7% growth. Strong demand for SUVs including Scorpio N, Thar, XUV 3XO, XUV700, Bolero and the Electric Origin range comprising BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9s helped the company continue its impressive growth trajectory. The gap between Tata and Mahindra stood at just 1,683 units during the month.

Hyundai Only Carmaker To Register Decline

Hyundai was the only manufacturer among the top six to report a year-on-year decline. The company sold 39,635 units, down 10% from June 2025. However, Hyundai had already clarified that sales were impacted by a temporary production disruption following a fire at a supplier’s manufacturing facility, resulting in a production loss of around 13,900 units during the month. Production has since normalised, with Hyundai expecting to recover the lost volumes during the current quarter.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor registered 28,441 units, recording 7.5% growth over last year. Continued demand for models such as Innova Crysta, Hyryder, Innova Hycross and Fortuner supported steady growth. Kia India also delivered another strong month, selling 24,552 units, up 19% YoY. This was company’s best-ever June sales performance.

Q2 2026 Sales Cross 11.88 Lakh Units

During the April-June 2026 quarter, the six manufacturers together sold 11,88,111 passenger vehicles, representing 25.2% YoY growth over 9,48,866 units sold during the corresponding period last year. Maruti Suzuki remained the market leader with 5,25,228 units, accounting for more than 44% of combined sales.

Tata Motors secured second position with 1,80,166 units, followed closely by Mahindra at 1,74,745 units. Hyundai maintained fourth place with 1,39,374 units, while Toyota and Kia rounded off the top six with 89,174 units and 79,424 units, respectively.

Competition Intensifying At The Top

While Maruti Suzuki continues to enjoy a sizeable lead, competition among the remaining manufacturers is becoming increasingly intense. Tata Motors and Mahindra remain locked in a close battle for second place, with both companies benefiting from strong SUV demand and expanding EV portfolios. Toyota and Kia continue to steadily increase their market presence, while Hyundai is expected to recover production losses in the coming months as it prepares to launch new products.
