The Ertiga recorded sales of 18,516 units in August 2026, almost unchanged from the 18,445 units sold during the same month in 2025. This was 32 percent higher than the 14,004 units recorded in August 2025. The midsize SUV recorded sales of 16,288 units, representing a modest 2 percent increase over the 15,924 units sold a year earlier. Baleno registered sales of 15,746 units in August 2026, up from 12,549 units during the same month last year.

Tata Punch became India’s best-selling car in August 2026, recording sales of 21,320 units. Its volumes nearly doubled from the 10,704 units sold during the corresponding month last year, resulting in 99 percent year-on-year growth.

Wagon R secured second position with sales of 20,180 units, up from 14,552 units in August 2025. The hatchback registered a healthy year-on-year improvement of 39 percent.

Maruti Suzuki Swift finished close behind the Wagon R with sales of 19,832 units. Its volumes increased by 60 percent compared with the 12,385 units registered in August 2025.

Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx occupied fourth position with 18,730 units, compared with 12,422 units in August last year. This translated into year-on-year growth of 51 percent.

The Ertiga recorded sales of 18,516 units in August 2026, almost unchanged from the 18,445 units sold during the same month in 2025. Although its year-on-year growth remained flat, the Ertiga’s presence among India’s five best-selling cars highlights the sustained demand for practical and relatively affordable seven-seat vehicles.

Tata Motors placed a second SUV in the top ten, with the Nexon registering sales of 18,431 units. This was 32 percent higher than the 14,004 units recorded in August 2025. Combined with the Punch, Tata’s two top-ten models contributed 39,751 units during the month. Both products recorded double-digit growth, underlining Tata Motors’ strength in the compact SUV segments.

Dzire remained India’s highest-selling sedan, registering sales of 18,418 units. Its volumes increased by 12 percent from 16,509 units in August 2025.

Hyundai Creta was the only Hyundai model to appear in the August 2026 top-ten rankings. The midsize SUV recorded sales of 16,288 units, representing a modest 2 percent increase over the 15,924 units sold a year earlier.

Baleno registered sales of 15,746 units in August 2026, up from 12,549 units during the same month last year. Its volumes grew by 25 percent year-on-year.

Together, the Baleno, Swift and Wagon R demonstrate that hatchbacks remain major contributors to Maruti Suzuki’s overall sales despite the broader consumer shift towards SUVs and crossovers.
